Puglia PGI since 1995

The Heel of the Boot of Italy is the Apulia to which this IGP offers wines as varied as its territory between the two seas.

Wine color: white, red, rosé

Alcohol content: from 9.50% to 15% depending on typology

Characteristic of: all Apulia (Bari, BAT, Brindisi, Foggia, Lecce and Taranto)

Grape varieties: about 50 varieties both native and international.

 


It represents a true and proper synthesis of the many Apulias with its many wines, in correspondence to the various microclimates and the presence of plateaus and valleys, hills and woods, rainy or parched and sunny lands, with in addition the two seas Adriatic and Ionian. If we add to all this at least 70 grape varieties, and many others in the process of being developed, the result is a rainbow of wines that match the food and wine tradition of Apulia, which boasts about 800 kilometres of coastline and several hundred typical products.

The indication on the label of the grape variety for Puglia PGI requires the use of at least 85% of the grapes belonging to the indicated variety.

The typology envisaged by the production regulations are:

  • Puglia PGI White also Sparkling, SpumanteCharmat Method, Overripe Grapes and Raisin wine
  • Puglia PGI Red also Sparkling, Overripe Grapes, Raisin Wine and Nouveau,
  • Puglia PGI Rosé also Sparkling, Spumante Charmat Method, Nouveau.

Tasting notes

Puglia PGI White has a more or less intense straw yellow colour, a pleasant and delicate aroma and a fresh, dry to sweet taste

Puglia PGI Overripe Grapes ranging from straw yellow to golden, a distinctive, delicate and persistent aroma and a dry to sweet, typical and well balanced taste

Total Alcohol: 15%

 

Puglia IGP Sparkling White has a fine, evanescent froth, a more or less intense straw yellow colour, a delicate, fruity aroma and a dry to sweet, well balanced taste

Alcohol Content: 9,50%

 

Puglia PGI Raisin wine White has a straw yellow to golden colour, a distinctive, delicate and persistent aroma and a sweet, well balanced taste

Total Alcohol: 15%

 

Puglia PGI Spumante Charmat Method  White has a fine and persistent froth, a more or less intense straw yellow colour with possible golden reflections, a fragrant, complex aroma, characteristic of double fermentation, a fresh, savoury, fine, well balanced, even sweet taste.
Alcohol Content: 9,50%

Puglia PGI Red has a ruby red to garnet color, a pleasant and characteristic aroma, a dry to sweet, well balanced taste.

Alcohol Content: 10,50%

 

The Puglia PGI Overripe Grapes Red from has a ruby red colour, tending to garnet red with ageing, a characteristic, delicate and persistent aroma, a dry to sweet, typical, well balanced taste.

Total Alcohol: 15%

 

Puglia  PGI Sparkling Red has a fine, evanescent froth, a more or less intense rosé colour, a delicate, fruity aroma and a dry to sweet, well balanced taste.

Alcohol Content: 9,50%

 

The Puglia PGI Nouveau Red  has a more or less intense ruby red colour, an intense, pleasing and distinctive aroma and a dry to sweetish, characteristic taste.

Alcohol Content: 11%

 

The Puglia PGI Raisin wine  Red has a ruby red colour, tending to garnet red with ageing, a characteristic, delicate and persistent aroma and a sweet, typical and well balanced taste.

Total Alcohol: 15%

Puglia PGI Rosé  has a more or less intense rosé colour, a characteristic fruity aroma and a dry to sweet, well balanced taste.

Alcohol Content: 10%

 

Puglia PGI Sparkling Rosé has a fine, evanescent froth, a more or less pale pink colour, a delicate, fruity aroma and a dry to sweet, well balanced, distinctive taste.

Alcohol Content: 9,50%

 

Puglia PGI Nouveau Rosé has a more or less intense rosé colour, a distinctive fruity aroma and a dry to sweetish, well balanced taste.

Alcohol Content: 10,50%

 

Puglia PGI Spumante Charmat Method  Rosé has a fine, persistent froth, a more or less intense rosé colour, a fragrant, complex aroma, characteristic of double fermentation, a fresh, sapid, fine, well balanced to sweet taste.

Alcohol Content: 9,50%
